Click here to watch our Chief Investment Officer, Douglas Kee, on BNN Market Call. In the 45 minute segment, Doug expresses his overall view of the market place and provides some insight into specific sectors. Specifically, he mentions the opportunity to purchase underperforming materials stocks that are currently less expensive than securities in other Canadian sectors. He believes the materials sector is set to rebound in the 2015-2016 range and in the meantime, he is happy to sit and collect a 3.5%-4% dividend while he waits.  He remains positive on the steady and consistent dividend and earnings growth of the Canadian Banks in the 5%-10% range and believes this growth is sustainable for the next 10-15 years.

When speaking about specific stocks, Doug went over his past picks from 17 months ago dating back to January 14, 2013. His previous picks, BNS (up 21.5%), ECA (up 40%) and BCE (up 24%) all outperformed the market which was up 16% in the same period.

His current picks are CVE, the growing oil producer with a good yield and average 10% dividend growth, FTS, a growing utility with a large acquisition closing at the end of 2014 and RCI.B, the best positioned telecommunications company with no legacy landline or pension overhang.
